Well, after a certainly interesting and exciting first round, it is safe to say that this season will be action-packed and full of great racing. 3 surprise safety cars, mostly due to connection problems, heavily influenced the race. Congrats to Edward for his great drive as the returning world champion. The results have been updated in the google docs, which can be seen here and here. Now for the race summary.

Qualifying ran smoothly, with Emo taking a dominanting pole. The start of the race went off flawlessly, little to no wrecking was to be found in spite of the tight corners and close walls. By lap 5 the pack thinned out and most racers had made their first pit stop. At lap 8 Josh went black-screen and lagged out, bringing out the safety car. The pack was once again back together. The green flag showed the same results as the start, spreading out again after a few laps. The battle for the lead was a close one between Emo and Edward, as they traded mistake after mistake.

The 2nd round of pits came around, however they were much less clean than the first. Multiple speeding penalties and 2 interval penalties would be given during this time. Edward took precautionary measures after speeding by completing a drive through penalty, costing him the battle for the lead. Another safety car came out at lap 30 for a wreck at the Clark chicane between Canucks and Josh. Green flag racing did not last long afterwards, as another safety car period would be caused by yet another lag out, this time by Canucks. This one had occurred in the middle of 3rd round pits, so those with later pits suffered from this. The last segment went green, but with many more wrecks and flips. On the last lap, Deano caught up to Canucks and made a last ditch effort for a pass. Around the last 3 corners, Deano skillfully cut the inside on Canucks, making the finish even more exciting.

Speeding penalties were very high during the race, so as a result, the penalty for pit lane speeding will be increased to deter it. Try to maintain a comfortable speed around 40-48 kph, because pushing it will result in worse consequences.

Thats all folks, good race and see you all at Sepang.
