Halo 3 Style Racetrack ChallengePosted Image

After going back and playing many of the earliest racetracks ever, the type of track that I had no respect for back in the days of Halo 3 due to my obsession with sandbox skytracks, I fell in love with them. They were the most fun racetracks I ever played in Halo 3, and for that reason I want to see a whole lot more of them in Halo 4! This contest is to see who can create the best Halo 3 style racetrack on Halo 4. Of course you may phase objects, use gravity zones, use magents, use kill zones and all of the other new features, but overall the map should look and feel like an early pre-DLC Halo 3 racetrack.
Rules:
  • Only one map per person, but submissions can be changed before the deadline
  • If the map is made by more than one person, please list all of the creators.
  • Must be made on Halo 4, not Halo 3 or Halo Reach
  • Map MUST be in your fileshare
  • Must be at least two thirds terrain (or natural flooring of the map)
  • Must be compatible for the RACETRACKS gametype
  • Must be compatible for 16 people
  • During voting period, you may not vote for your own map

How to Submit:
  • Map Creator: (gamertag, not HT name)
  • Map Name:
  • Map Description:
  • Picture: (optional)

Prizes:
  • 1st Place: 500 HT Points, Map Feature, Youtube Video Feature
  • 2nd Place: 300 HT Points
  • 3rd Place: 100 HT Points

Judging:
  • Judging will be done by me and a few others. We will rate each map from 1 to 5 (5 being the best), the scores will be added up, and the 5 maps with the highest overall scores will then move on to community voting.

Community Voting:
  • Community Voting will take place after the judging period, and voters will choose their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd favorite choice. First will receive 3 points, second will receive 2 points, and third will receive one point. The map with the highest score will be deemed the winner.

Deadlines:
  • Submission Deadline will be December 5th, 2012.
  • Judgement Deadline will be December 10th, 2012.
  • Voting Deadline will be December 20th, 2012.

Hmm, think I'll enter this. "Must be compatible for 16 players", you can only spawn 8 mongeese though? Or does the use ghosts and set all to mongoose trick work still?

Both ghosts and warthogs convert to mongooses. You have to plan out your money for these maps to save for vehicles and shield for the gametype

Cookie, for now, use Yugnoswam's banner. I'll be moving my PC out into my living room today, and can either edit the banner you have right now or make a new one.

Please just edit mine. What is so wrong with it being a little bit bigger? That's better anyways because there's nothing else exciting on the home page. Plus, yugno's image is NOT my image, and doesn't even have the correct title of my contest. So no, I'd rather keep it the way it is.

It's just that it's too large and can stretch the page on smaller monitors, that's why we're asking you to edit it. You should never really go over 750 pixels wide. I wasn't trying to say that you image was bad, again, just that it's too large. To Staff that accepts these: Make a judgement call when reviewing thess. If a font or an image seems too big, it's ok to request that the member make any changes to it. If the member cannot, that's why we have media staff to assist them. Myself and Masta included.

Just know that I meant no offense to you or anyone else. It was more of our fault for not asking you to resize it, but I've brought my PC out into my living room (which was a freakin' workout for me) so I was able to fix it up for you. I'll also be forging a track for this contest. I've never made a terrain track before!

Oh awesome, I can't wait to see it! I'm glad this contest is encouraging you to make your first ever terrain track! And of course I know you meant no offense.

When you say Pre-DLC style, does that pretty much mean you could make a track on any map other than the 3 forge environments and it would be eligible?

You could use the forge maps and ignore the structure objects.

Tried starting a map and I doubt I will finish it unless they sort of the hit-boxes on the terrain. Sorry cookie.
